My name is Francine Smith and I live in Clearfield, Pennsylvania with my two daughters ages 18 and 11.  Clearfield is located in the central part of the state - we are about 45 minutes from Penn State University. 

For many years I've had an undeniable weakness for old, time-worn items such as crocks and antique bottles that I either found at sales or were handed down to me by family.  I've always considered these items to be "treasures".  My collection over time grew to include kitchenwares, wooden items, crates and anything else that was old and had character.  Now those items are considered to be "primitives" and are an important part of decorating my home as well as that of many others who share my love for these wonderful pieces of our heritage.

In the spring of 2008, I decided that I wanted to open my own gift shop that offered a unique look and feel where I could share my creativity.  It was important to me that the building that housed my shop reflected both a "primitive" and "country" feel.  I met with a family of Amish craftsmen from New Holland, Pennsylvania (Homestead Structures) who put up with me for months and the countless changes that I made to the original plan to get the final result.

I was able to open my shop in the fall of 2008 and have never looked back!  It has been a great experience meeting new people and also being able to express and share my creativity and love for the country and primitive decorating styles with others!  I may not have several quantities of an item within the shop but that is done purposely to make the customer feel as if they are finding a "treasure" or a one-of-a-kind piece that no one else is going to own.  Of course, there is always a chance that I may have a duplicate of that item hidden away in storage or may order another at a future date - but you never know for sure!
